Instructional Program (CIP)

Medical/Clinical Assistant. 510801

Description

Today's Medical Assistants are called upon to perform a variety of clinical and administrative duties; this triple certification online program ensures you will have a well-rounded education to excel in the ever-evolving environment of healthcare.

Chief among these new responsibilities are tasks related to and around the practice of Phlebotomy. This Clinical Medical Specialist program contains a course specifically designed to prepare you with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform blood draws, collect and handle blood and non-blood specimens, and maintain a safe clinical environment.

Additionally, knowledge of front office skills like scheduling, verifying patient and insurance info will make you an asset in any healthcare environment, all skills you’ll learn in the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) course.

In any clinical healthcare position, patient interaction is essential. To ensure you develop proper bedside manner and effectively interact with patients, doctors and coworkers, we include the Customer Service Certified (CSC) course, aligned with standards set forth by the Professional Association for Customer Engagement (PACE), in our Clinical Medical Specialist program.

Once you complete this 31-week program, you’ll have met the training requirements to sit for the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam and the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) exam, both of which are sponsored by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Additionally, you’ll have completed the training requirements relevant to the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification sponsored by the NHA. Prior to taking the CPT exam, you’ll be required to meet clinical requirements of 30 successful venipunctures and 10 successful capillary sticks. These can be completed once hired as a Medical Assistant.
