The Up to 3 Early Intervention Program in the Institute for Disability Research Policy & Practice at Utah State University is an early childhood program in northern Utah providing quality, evidence-based therapy services to parents of children under three years of age with developmental disabilities or delays. Our interdisciplinary team is comprised of speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, behavior analysts, child development specialists, behavior technicians, vision and hearing therapists as well as autism specialists.
We are looking for a motivated, interactive interpreter in each of the following languages: Chinese, Spanish, and Karenni. The incumbent interprets give online instruction, assessments, and planning sessions between therapists and parents. Instruction and coaching to parents involve child development information for children.
The role will include providing own transportation to visits at family homes. The current need is up to 5 hours per week. Additional hours may also be available as the need arises.
Primary responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
+ Demonstrate the ability to interpret:
+ Developmental information.
+ Classroom instruction to children and adults to address the requirements identified by each child’s IFSP.
+ Individual instruction to parents to assist the family in understanding the special needs of their child in providing information to enhance their child’s development.
+ Must adhere to University travel and driving policies.
+ Must adhere to confidentiality and ethics of early intervention.
+ Other duties as assigned.
+ Excellent verbal command of English and one of the following: Chinese, Spanish, or Karenni languages.
+ Experience interpreting.

The Institute for Disability Research, Policy, & Practice is one of the largest research and outreach centers at USU, and we are largely funded through grants, contracts, and fee-for-service programs. All staff positions at the IDRPP are contingent upon funding, and all senior staff at the IDRPP with graduate degrees are responsible for helping to generate funding to support our operations and growth.
