The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is hiring an air quality monitoring analyst for our Coeur d’Alene Regional Office. This position is a foundational part of the air quality monitoring program in Coeur d’Alene and supports the Crop Residue Burning (CRB) Program for the region by conducting more than 50% of their work to be out in the field.
Example of Duties
+ Install, operate, and maintain various types of air quality monitoring equipment as required to meet DEQ AQ Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) criteria and relevant SOPs. Equipment may include: continuous gas and particulate monitors, telemetry systems, meteorological measurement, systems, and filter based samplers.
+ Implement required quality assurance/quality control processes to ensure data meet state completeness criteria in the quality assurance project plan.
+ Coordinate Crop Residue Burning (CRB) duties with the regional CRB lead analyst. Duties may include serving as a point of contact for registered growers, reviewing meteorological forecasts and air quality monitoring data, issuing final burn approval notifications, shutting down burns when conditions deteriorate, responding to CRB-related complaints, investigating apparent violations, and developing enforcement referral documentation.
+ Operate, maintain and repair various types of air quality monitoring equipment as required to meet DEQ AQ Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) criteria and relevant SOPs. Equipment may include: continuous gas and particulate monitors, telemetry systems, meteorological measurement, systems, and filter based samplers.
+ Conduct inspections on small stationary source facilities and investigate complaints regarding air quality issues.
+ Respond to complaints from the public. Evaluate compliance and recommend solutions to air quality problems.
+ Initiate field enforcement action when appropriate and/or develop enforcement referral documentation.
