Job Description


The Provider Insights & Claims Analytics (PICA) team is a blend of technology, data, and consulting professionals leveraging the latest tools and methods to solve complex business problems. In this role the Data Architect 2 works in multiple data environments with responsibilities for data design, database architecture, metadata and repository creation. These assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and collaboration with teammates to determine the appropriate course of action.


The Data Architect 2 will work collaboratively with other senior team members to develop scalable, efficient, and comprehensive data structures to enable analytics and insight generation for internal customers and partner teams. Duties include:

+ Translates business needs into long-term data architecture solutions

+ Defines, designs, builds, and maintains dimensional database schemas, such as star or snowflake schemas

+ Evaluates reusability of current data for separate analyses

+ Conducts data sheering to rid the system of old, unused or duplicate data

+ Reviews object and data models and the metadata repository to structure the data for better management and quicker access

+ Understands department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas

+ Makes decisions regarding own work methods mostly within established guidelines/procedures, occasionally in ambiguous situations

+ Translates reporting and analysis needs into database design

+ Migrates and optimizes the current on-premises environment to prepare for a migration to a MS Azure cloud environment

Required Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field

+ Knowledge of Python or similar programming language

+ Strong SQL knowledge, including writing complex, performant queries to pull data from multiple platforms such as SQL Server, Microsoft Azure, Netezza, Oracle, or DB2

+ Familiar with best practices for data architecture design, automation, security, storage and configurations in an MS Azure environment

+ Experience creating and maintaining automated extract-transform-load (ETL) processes using tools such as Azure Data Factory, SnapLogic, Python or similar

+ Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

Preferred Qualifications

+ Experience working on the design and implementation of large data technologies and solutions related to data warehouses, data lakes and data marts within a cloud data environment including tasks such as data architecture design, automation, security, storage and configurations.

+ Understanding of how to define, design and build dimensional database schemas, including star and snowflake schemas

+ Working knowledge of DevOps methods and CI/CD automation practices

+ Proficiency in understanding Healthcare related data

+ Proficiency in verbal and written communication

+ Knowledge of Power BI as reporting tool and its data access architecture

+ Proficiency in design of various database objects such as Views, Stored Procedures, Functions etc.

+ Experience migrating on-premises data to MS Azure
