From mixed reality and human interaction to natural inputs and beyond, TED is focused on transforming new technologies from early concept to product by iterating, prototyping, and realizing the human value and new experiences these technologies enable.The Camera and Depth (C&D) team within TED develops high-performance depth solutions for RL’s AR/VR products. This multidisciplinary group brings research to life by realizing state-of-the-art custom modules including ASICs, lasers, optics, firmware etc. C&D team is seeking a System Integration Lead for end-to-end ownership of integrating laser based systems into complex end products and to help guide development initial concept to delivery in high volume. This is a central role in realizing module maturity at respective product development milestones by consolidating work of many cross-functional partners. Example cross functional teams include architecture, optical, electrical, mechanical, process, test, firmware, components, third party vendors, operations, quality, reliability, product design etc.

Required Skills:

System Integration Lead: Depth Sensing HW Responsibilities:

1. Synthesize and define requirements for cross functional partners to guide development of hardware, firmware, and factory test strategy

2. Work with cross functional partners to define system architecture while considering functional and optical/electrical safety requirements

3. Drive performance/safety validation testing with internal and external partners

4. Drive failure analysis during system integration in factory locations and during EE/FW bringup of complex systems

5. Communicate concise/clear status summaries to cross functional and executive teams

Minimum Qualifications:

6. Masters degree in physics, electrical engineering, or related disciplines

7. 5+ years of experience in consumer electronics, optics or similar areas

8. Experience in consumer electronics space following a product development cycle methodology

9. Experience in managing complex projects working in a highly matrixed organization

10. Experience leading cross functional teams, and technical communication skills

11. Experience generating tests and run data analysis using Python, JMP, Minitab or other data analysis software

12. Understands how to use and document Manufacturing processes and process knowledge of high-production volume modules including FMEA/FTA

13. Experience with system integration in complex, regulated products with many cross functional stakeholders

14. Experience in mass production process, test and equipment development in consumer electronics space

15. Familiarity with IEC standards regulating optical/electrical devices (IEC60825-1, IEC62471, etc.)

16. Experience with firmware development, custom ASIC, module integration electrical design, high speed signal integrity, semiconductor lasers and imaging optical systems for sensing applications

17. Ph.D. degree in physics, electrical engineering or related disciplines or equivalent industry experience

Public Compensation:

$167,000/year to $230,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
