Job Description
Albertsons Companies is working to become the favorite food and drug retailer in every market it serves. POSITION PURPOSE: The Demand Planner (forecasting & analysis) manages statistical, promotional, and total forecasts to drive retail in stock conditions and optimized inventory levels. The Planner determines causal factors impacting forecasts and actuals including weather, moving seasons, etc. The Demand Planner Owns/adjusts/optimizes the promotional lift as well as the instruments that continue lift generation. This position is based and located at our corporate office in Boise, Idaho KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: * Recognizes and reconciles JDA forecast exceptions and tunes forecasts as needed. * Tracks actuals against forecast & reviews forecast accuracy (base and promo) and tunes forecast as needed. * Reviews demand history for outliers and develop recommendations and manage JDA settings related to outliers. * Manages new demand forecasting units and new product introduction processes * Manages end of life forecasts. * Manages new and conversion store forecasts. * Maintains key metrics against goals for forecast accuracy. * Follows prescriptive “day in the life” matrix to assure processes and procedures are followed. * Generates/analyzes forecast accuracy and performance reports. * Reviews and resolves exceptions. * Reviews modeling exceptions related to price and vehicle lift coefficients and related data issues. * Reviews promotional forecast including promo quantities and forecast accuracy. * Analyzes post promotional data to determine opportunities to improve future forecasts. * Collaborates with replenishment planners, retail support and other business partners to achieve key performance indicators. * Generates appropriate views of the forecast to facilitate cross-functional communication. * Drives to continuously improve the Demand Planning process and resulting forecast accuracy. * Perform market review for recent trends and recommend best practices * Act as a change champion for best practices and process adoption KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: Education Level: * Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, finance, mathematics, business or related field or equivalent work experience. Experience Level: * 0 -10+ years of progressive relevant data management experience, with specific experience in Demand Planning management, Sales/Marketing, Supply Chain data management or business data management. Grocery Retail or Food & Beverage industry experience preferred Skills and Experiences: * Strong understanding of statistics. Articulate how items are performing relative to business targets while defining what actions need to be taken to improve performance. * Preferred knowledge and experience in JDA Demand & Fulfillment. * Supply chain experience in an established wholesale environment grocery, consumer packaged goods, or retail experience preferred. * Strong mathematical, statistical skills, and analytical skills. * Core strength in forecasting concepts, principles, and best practices. * Business perspective and correlation of functional role to business financial metrics. * Drives results through developing solutions. * Owns performance results/ accountability. * Strong collaborator and influencer; can impact results across organizational teams. * Communication excellence; able to synthesize findings and influence action; proactive. * Foundational understanding of Albertsons’s business strategy, financials and the value proposition to all members. * Understands operational tradeoffs and makes decisions that positively impact all three factors. * Strong understanding of how current role impacts Albertsons’s key financial metrics. * Sets targets that align to company level KPI’s and identifies ways to continuously improve performance without negatively impacting other key metrics. * Drives results through the development of solutions rather than solely focusing on problems; takes accountability for performance results and works with others to improve results in areas that he/she has indirect control over; owns performance results in positive or negative situations and communicates actions plans to key stakeholders. * Knows own strengths and weaknesses and has developed ways to leverage strengths and compensate for or develop areas of weakness; regularly and proactively seeks feedback and takes action in response to it; actively seeks challenging opportunities to stretch and learn.
