Providence is calling a Medical Assistant – Apprentice (Day Shift, 1.0 Full Time, 40 hours per week) to Providence Medical Group in Spokane, Washington. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all – especially those who are poor and vulnerable.
Providence MA Apprenticeship is 2,000 hours of paid clinical practice under the guidance of a Medical Assistant (MA) coach, 364 hours of coursework (unpaid), 3 skills labs (unpaid) and participate in all required apprenticeship activities. You will be responsible for providing direct patient care and will practice up to the skills learned and approved to practice through the apprentice program.

In this position you will:
+ Participate in all aspects of the medical assistance process under the guidance of the MA-C Coach and within the scope of the MA Apprentice education.
+ Assist in implementation of processes in the clinic to extent allowed by education. Administers and documents basic functions including vital signs, minor office procedures and other skills set as set forth by the WACMHC Apprentice Program and under the supervision of the assigned MA-C Coach. Participates in patient care conferences.
+ Perform MA procedures as assigned, trained and signed-off per guidelines of the WACMHC MA Apprentice guidelines.
+ Document accurately, promptly and appropriately according to clinic policy. Utilize clinic electronic medical record systems as trained.
+ Contribute to the assigned clinic team, functioning as a member of the unit. Assist patient care staff complete their patient care assignments.
+ Protect patient and employee confidentiality by promoting professional staff communications. Maintain full knowledge of policy and practices related to confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
+ Willingly accept projects and work assignments as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned, under the direct supervision of the MA-C Coach and within scope of practice as defined by WAC.
+ Adhere to established company compliance, policies, procedures and protocols.
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position include:
+ Current Blood Borne Pathogens 7-hour training (Pre-hire requirement)
+ Current BLS – Healthcare Provider (must be AHA accredited) required no later than 30 days after hire
+ Must be at least 18 years of age at the beginning date of the MA Apprentice program
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
+ Prior work or volunteer experience in a medical setting
