Required Skills:

Data Engineering Manager Responsibilities:

1. Drive the vision for Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Warehousing across a product vertical, and define and execute on a plan to achieve that vision.

2. Define the processes needed to achieve operational excellence in all areas, including project management and system reliability.

3. Build a high quality BI and Data Warehousing team and design the team to scale.

4. Build cross-functional relationships with Data Scientists, Product Managers and Software Engineers to understand data needs and deliver on those needs.

5. Manage data warehouse plans across a product vertical.

6. Drive the design, building, and launching of new data models and data pipelines in production.

7. Manage development of data resources and support new product launches.

8. Drive data quality across the product vertical and related business areas.

9. Manage the delivery of high impact dashboards and data visualizations.

10. Define and manage SLA’s for all data sets and processes running in production.

11. Provide insights that influence the overall strategy and plan for the framework and construction of a scalable data solution and data warehouse environment.

12. Facilitate visibility and consumption of the domains and components via appropriate interfaces.

13. Leverage a homegrown Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) framework as well as off-the-shelf ETL tools, as appropriate.

14. Design, build, and launch efficient and reliable data pipelines, including defining data requirements, and applying mathematical validation tests against gathered information.

15. Collaborate with data infrastructure and engineering teams to build and extend cross platform ETL and reports generation frameworks.

16. Provide consultation to business partners including analysts, managers, end users and developers to clarify work objectives, determine project scope, obtain consensus, identify problems and recommend solutions.

17. Support end users on ad hoc data usage and serve as a subject matter expert on functional matters, ultimately enabling users to consume and understand data better and faster.

18. Utilize knowledge of advanced mathematical and analytical methods to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

19. Telecommute from anywhere in the US permitted.

Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Applied Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or related field, followed by five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate work experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation. Experience must include 24 months of experience in the following:

21. Leading data engineering initiatives

22. Training and development of internal and external team members

23. ETL (Extract, Transform, Load)

24. Data modeling

25. Python, Perl, Xquery, Javascript or Java

26. Hadoop, Hive, MapReduce, or MPI

Public Compensation:

$263,620/year to $311,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
