Shuttle Drivers and Agricultural Equipment Operators

Job Description

Dates of Need: 6/4/2025-12/12/2025.  

The primary duties assigned under this order will be those duties of Shuttle Driver SOC 53-3053. Workers will be required to have a valid CDL (Class B) drivers license and be insurable to drive company buses. 

Shuttle Driver duties include:

Driving large passenger buses when needed. May pick up workers from different housing sites or pick up points back and forth to work, to pick up or drop off workers, or run errands such as but not limited to laundromat trips, grocery shopping, airport trips, governmental agencies trips, medical or dental office trips. Must abide by precise and strict safety instructions, rules, and policies. Inspect vehicles and check gas, oil, and water levels prior to departure, make minor repairs to vehicle and change tires, load fuel, employer will provide supplies and tools to perform minor repairs. Shuttle driver will maintain cleanliness, of the bus, safely handle passenger emergencies or disruptions. Employer assures that driver will be paid the offered wage rate for actual driving time, including but not limited to trips to fuel vehicle and time spent maintaining the vehicle. Must be prompt and on-time and follow any schedule delegated by supervisors or management.
Workers will also have duties under Farm Worker and Laborer Crop, Nursery and Greenhouse and under the Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Employment Statistics Standard Occupational Classification Code 45-2092 and may also perform duties under Agricultural Equipment Operators 45-2091.

The anticipated hours listed represent the normal work schedule. Due to the nature of these crops, weather, and the requirement to send crops to customers when needed, it is the prevailing practice to work more or different hours than those listed. A worker may be offered more than the specified hours of work; however, the worker will not be required to work for more than the number of hours specified in the job order, or on the worker’s Sabbath or Federal holidays. Saturday work may be required. Workday start times vary depending on the weather. depending on the time of year, hours of daylight, and production requirements. There may be periods when little or no work will be available due to weather, time of year, and the requirements of the cropping or growing season. Workers must be able to work varying shifts as required by the season and work performed. Workers are notified of any change in the start times. Work may be performed during rain, light snow, cold, freezing temperatures and/or in high humidity and in temperatures over a 100 degrees F. Worker may be required to work in fields when crops are wet with dew/rain and should have suitable clothing for variable weather conditions. Workers’ job duties may require split shifts (e.g. 5:00 am to 10:00am and 5:00pm to 8:00pm). Work hours may vary were there are periods when extra hours are offered and periods of reduced hours are available due to weather, crop conditions, and time of year.

Workers must possess requisite physical strength and endurance to repeat the harvest process throughout the workday. Workers must work at a sustained, vigorous pace and make bona-fide efforts to work efficiently and consistently that are reasonable under the climatic and all other working conditions. Workers may never ride on agricultural equipment not designed for work related riding purposes or any other non-passenger intended equipment unless instructed and authorized by the employer or supervisor to do so. Workers with valid drivers licenses and that are insurable may transport workers, equipment, supplies or crop. All work-related injuries must be immediately reported to the crew leader, foreman, or supervisor. Employer-paid drug test may be required if a worker has an accident at work.

Full Growing Season Commitment: The job offered requires that the worker be available for work every day that work is available for the full period of employment. The worker agrees to be available for work and perform the assigned work for the assigned employer whenever work is available through the full period of employment.
Training: There will be a demonstration period to familiarize workers with job specification and to demonstrate proper harvest methods and other crop specific issues such as particular grading, sizing or equipment operation.

Farmworker and Laborer duties will include:
Orchard/Tree Removal: Workers will use machinery and hand tools to take fruit trees out of the ground and remove tree debris, wood, and irrigation parts
from orchard blocks.
Onion Bagging: Workers will use buckets or bags to move previously lifted or dug onions from the ground and place onions into bags. Onions bags will be
left in the field to dry and cure. When the onions have dried and cured, the worker will move the onions in the bags into bins. Workers will use care when
handling and transferring onions to not bruise or damage onions and take direction from supervisors or crew bosses.
Onion Weeding: Workers will use a hoe and hands to remove weeds from onion fields.
Grape Training: Worker will walk through vineyards to train grapes to cordon wire, in addition to thinning, trimming, and watering grapes as needed.
Grape Harvest: clipping and hand harvest of fruit.
Plant, weed, maintain, and harvest row crop vegetables.

Workers may never ride on agricultural equipment not designed for work related riding purposes or any other non-passenger intended equipment unless instructed and authorized by the employer or supervisor to do so.
Irrigation Duties:
Irrigation Hand lines:
1.Connect pipes.
2.Check the alignment of pipe and adjust for proper water distribution.
3.Attach lines to water supply.
4.Turn on pump.
5.Turn valves to start flow of water.
6.Disassemble lines and carry pipes across fields at specified intervals.
7.Move pipes through freshly irrigated crop and/or plowed fields where mud may be deep at times.
8.Lift and carry pipe sections weighing approximately 40 pounds on a sustained basis.
Wheel lines:
1.Start gasoline engines and operate controls to move lines across field at specified intervals.
Pivots:
1.Push on switch that activates circle sprinkler system.
