Job Description
Our IT Security Firewall Admin monitors, analyzes, and maintains systems and procedures to safeguard internal information systems, networks, databases, and web-based security. Ensures appropriate treatment of risk, compliance, and assurance from internal and external perspectives.Documents procedures, practices, and policies to include preparing documents for compliance audits.
This role has preference for flexible hybrid location (onsite Meridian Idaho campus, and work-from-home).
Education must meet one of the following requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, related field of study, or equivalent work experience (Two years' relevant work experience is equivalent to one year college)
- International Degree equivalency
- Applicable certification(s) as defined by the leader +2 years additional experience
- Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field of study, + 2 years additional experience
Required Experience: At Firewall Admin I, none specifically required, though experience in IT Risk/Security is appreciated. Preference for 2-4/+ years' information security; experience should span:
- Network Security (Firewalls and Web Application Firewalls)
- Cloud Security
- Incident Response
Your day may look like:
- Analyzes and identifies internal risk and security controls to identify existing security weaknesses, external and internal cyber threats.
- Recommends and implements changes to enhance systems security for effective mitigation and remediation efforts and prevent unauthorized access.
- Reports, investigates, and resolves security incidents. Performs root cause analysis, debugging, support, and post-mortem analysis for security incidents and service interruptions.
- Manages risks related to the use of information technology, information security, privacy, regulatory compliance, and governance.
- Ensures compliance with regulations and privacy laws.
- Maintains the Company's information security controls and security architecture, ensuring threats to business systems and applications are minimized.
- May manage access controls to applications. Implements technologies to centrally integrate identify systems across the organization.
- May track and monitor risk activities, notifying action owners, and escalating where required.
- Oversees internal or external systems security (i.e. cloud services)
- Participates in cross-functional teams to recommend design and implementation of standards, tools, and methodologies
- Plans, implements, manages, monitors, and upgrades solutions to defend against cyberattacks, hacking attempts, and threats
- Evaluates or develops documentation for the validation, assessment, and authorization of processes necessary to assure that existing and new information technology systems meet the organization's cybersecurity and risk requirements
- Leads collaboration with key engineering stakeholders
- Drives initiatives to improve security strategy, reduce attack surface, and address risk to organization
As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range is: $64,893 - $141,100 (Admins I, II, and/or III). The position is eligible for an annual incentive bonus (variable depending on company and employee performance). The pay range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, internal equity, geography, business or organizational needs, and alignment with market data. At Blue Cross of Idaho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for the position. Compensation decisions are dependent on factors and circumstances at the time of offer.
