Role: The BSA Fraud Security Expert provides financial services of superior quality and convenience by assisting in the performance of the credit union’s Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML) programs; fraud detection and prevention, identity theft prevention, and physical security programs.

 Pay: The pay for this position is $24.31 an hour.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and detect fraud, using fraud systems and investigative techniques. Make timely and independent judgment on suspected fraud to determine action needed to mitigate the further fraud and loss. Work with member on steps needed to stop fraud.  Instruct retail and operation departments on steps required to stop the fraud.  Work with law enforcement as needed.
  • Perform thorough investigations of suspicious transactions that are escalated from various departments.  Using investigative techniques, make timely and independent judgement instruct member and departments on the appropriate steps needed.
  • Independently respond to inquiries and information requests from outside organizations and financial institutions about possible suspicious activity and verification of transactions.
  • Educate employees on common fraud techniques, fraud trends in industry, and methods they can use to mitigate fraud on the front-end.
  • Manage the records and reporting of fraud from all areas of the credit union.
  • Create, review, and submit Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) and Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) using the appropriate systems as needed.
  • Assist in the FinCen 314(a) and 314(b) processes.
  • Participate in annual risk assessments for BSA/OFAC/AML and the security risk assessment for all plans in the security program.
  • With the assistance of the People Development Team, assist with the communication of the overall credit union security plan and the creation of curriculum that meets minimum staff training requirements.
  • Manage the delivery of activities to protect the physical safety of employees and members.
  • Monitor developments in laws, regulations, regulatory guidance and industry best practices for USA Patriot Act, OFAC, BSA, AML, privacy, safeguarding member information, fraud, and physical security.
  • Assist with the planning, preparation and completion of internal and external audits and regulatory examinations.
  • Maintains knowledge of all Credit Union products, services, and promotions.
  • Contributes to efficient Credit Union operations by performing other job-related duties as assigned.
