Job Description

Our client in Coeur d’Alene, ID, a leader in advanced composite manufacturing for aerospace and defense, is seeking a skilled CNC Programmer. In this role, you will support programming and setup for all CNC equipment. This includes 5‑axis CMS and DMS routers, 5‑axis HAAS UMC‑750 mills, as well as 3‑ and 4‑axis HAAS mills. The CNC Programmer will play an essential role in New Product Introduction (NPI) and New Product Development (NPD) efforts, collaborating closely with Engineering and Program Management teams. Compensation for the CNC Programmer

 

·         $90,000 - $100,000 Annually DOE

Responsibilities for the CNC Programmer

 

·         Develop CNC programs and setup sheets for all relevant machines.

·         Plan and manage daily programming schedules to meet production timelines.

·         Train machine shop operators on setup and operation procedures.

·         Interpret job orders, blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine machining requirements.

·         Select tools, machine speeds, and feed rates for optimal performance.

·         Conduct simulations or trial runs to ensure programs produce in‑spec parts.

·         Analyze product and process performance to identify cost reduction or efficiency improvements.

·         Support cross‑functional teams on projects such as equipment justification, fixture design, and manufacturing enhancements.

·         Use software tools (Mastercam, Vericut, SolidWorks, Catia, Excel, Word, etc.) to complete assignments.

·         Participate in safety inspections and maintain a clean, safe work environment.

·         Support lean manufacturing initiatives (5S, Kaizen, RCCA, Value Stream Mapping).

·         Contribute to the development and implementation of improved manufacturing processes.

 

Requirements for the CNC Programmer

 

·         High School diploma or preferred Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

·         Minimum 5 years programming CNC 3‑ to 5‑axis machines, ideally in the composites or aerospace sector.

·         Proven team player with the ability to multitask in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.

·         Experience programming and operating HAAS machining centers (CMS and DMS router experience is a plus).

·         Strong understanding of machine tool operation, safety practices, and GD&T.

·         Proficiency in Mastercam, Vericut, and SolidWorks; Catia V5 preferred.

·         Familiarity with 3D CAD software and CNC simulation.

·         Comfortable collaborating with cross‑functional teams and communicating effectively

·         Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite.

·         Manufacturing experience in aerospace or defense industries is a plus.

·         Must be a United States citizen

·         Experience with tooling design, tooling design reviews, and tooling supplier management are preferred
