Job Announcement: Police Officer Recruit
City of Rupert Police Department – Rupert, Idaho
Position Type: Full-Time, Entry-Level
Wage Range: $22.00–$26.00 per hour, DOE

Position Summary:
The Rupert Police Department is seeking applications for the position of Police Officer Recruit
or Lateral Transfer. This is a patrol law enforcement position designed for individuals ready to
serve the community with professionalism, integrity, and courage. New officers are trained to
perform a broad range of duties, including patrol, investigations, emergency response, and public
engagement.

Key Responsibilities Include:
• Responding to emergency and routine calls for service
• Conducting patrols, traffic enforcement, and criminal investigations
• Writing detailed incident and arrest reports
• Making arrests and preparing for court testimony
• Assisting during accidents, disasters, and emergencies
• Engaging with the public and participating in community policing efforts
• Maintaining knowledge of state laws, local ordinances, and department procedures
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements
• High school diploma or GED
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Valid Idaho driver’s license
• U.S. citizen with no felony convictions
• Must pass a background check, physical fitness assessment, and psychological evaluation
• Idaho POST certification within one year of hire
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior law enforcement, military service, or related experience
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Professional conduct and commitment to ethical service
Compensation & Benefits:
• Hourly Wage: $22.00–$26.00 depending on experience
• Annual Christmas Bonus after one year of service

• Uniforms, equipment, and training provided
