Posting Context Statement:
The Vandal Health Clinic is a department under Student Affairs. This unit supports the health and wellbeing of students by providing a full range of healthcare needs on the Moscow Campus. The Vandal Health Clinic provides primary care and referral services to all students. This unit also supports students by verifying and enforcing compliance with the University of Idaho Health Insurance Requirement as a condition of enrollment for all degree seeking students. The department is responsible for management of enrollment and waiver processes, providing customer service and communications and monitoring financial and accounting processes.
Position Overview:
The Medical Assistant position is responsible for performing duties required to assist Healthcare providers (HCPs) at Vandal Health Clinic.
Duties may include:
- Assist in the examination and treatment of patients
- Preparation of patient and environment for treatment
- Conduct basic CLIA-waived laboratory tests
- Care of the patient after treatment
- Patient education, clerical reception functions
- Other duties assigned
Required Experience:
- Communicating technical concepts to medical and non-medical audiences
Required Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent AND completion of Medical Assistant course accredited by the American Association of Medical Assistants or the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA)
Required Other:
- Idaho State Medical Assistant - Registered (RMA) or Idaho State Medical Assistant - Certified (CMA) credential submitted upon hire
- Maintaining biannual Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certification, submitted upon hire
Additional Preferred:
- Experience working as a Medical Assistant
- Experience in performing laboratory tests, procedures, or treatments, specimen collection, procedures for sterilizing equipment and instruments
- Experience setting up for special procedures
- Experience in assisting with minor surgical procedures
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, Outlook and/or Teams
- Knowledgeable and understanding of medical terminology
- Knowledgeable working with Electronic Health/Medical Records
- Experience working with or knowledgeable of the HIPAA and FERPA
- Experience protecting and releasing health information
