A DAY IN THE LIFE

The Strategic Sourcing Managerwill develop and execute sourcing strategies to secure long-term supply continuity of equipment for the US Consulting Segment. This role will work closely with suppliers to negotiate optimal terms and develop cost optimization strategies with operational leaders in the segment to ensure efficient utilization of owned equipment and optimal pricing for all rental equipment. The Strategic Sourcing Manager will work cross functionally with operations, business strategy, and resource management to support business continuity.

This position may be based remotely within the U.S. with a preference for proximity to a Montrose office location.

Equipment & Procurement Operations:

  • Ensure timely procurement of goods and services while maintaining cost control and quality standards.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage vendor relationships to support operational needs.
  • Develop a deep understanding of relevant equipment technologies to scope out best use cases, business case, and eventual purchase
  • Track changes in suppliers within core markets
  • Lead the Equipment & Procurement Operations team
  • Identify potential supply risks that could affect project delivery
  • Establish standards and metrics for measuring supplier performance
  • Organize and direct sourcing activities for value, quality, inventory, and delivery
  • Analyze data to develop capacity planning strategies, balancing long-term business needs with supply and demand forecasting, while effectively utilizing internal tools and company resource planning systems.
YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Logistics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in logistics, equipment management, procurement, or supply chain
  • Proven success managing vendor networks or equipment logistics.
  • Strong understanding of compliance, contract negotiation, and cost optimization.
  • Experience in consulting or high-growth environments preferred.
  • Proficiency with supply chain systems and data analytics tools.

Work environment and physical demands

  • Sitting, standing, and walking
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds several times a day
  • Overhead lifting of over 20 pounds
  • Bending, stooping, climbing ladders and crawling
  • Long hours involving overtime and weekends as necessary
  • Keyboarding/typing
  • Ability to read effectively from a computer screen, sampling device and/or a paper copy
  • Ability to handle a large volume of work and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Frequent, unscheduled travel for extended periods of time
  • Ability to drive non-commercial vehicles
  • Rarely may work shifts of up to 24 hours in duration
  • Dress out in physically demanding personal protective equipment (PPE) for site entry at HAZWOPER sites as required under 29CFR 1910.120
  • Wear half-face and full-face air purifying respirator (APR) as well as supplied air respirators in the form of Self-contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and hose supplied respirator with medical clearance as required under 29CFR 1910.134
  • Wear partially or totally encapsulating personal protective equipment

  • Works in an office environment when not deployed on an emergency response

  • Encounter environments presenting physical hazards of uneven ground, standing water, ditches, dusty conditions, rapidly moving transportation and remediation equipment, and physical stress associated with the wear of personal protective equipment
  • May work at altitudes greater than 5000 feet above sea level
  • May work on land, sea or air
  • May work in a setting with potential physical and chemical hazards; and
  • Frequent, extended travel
