4-H Youth Development Coordinator

at Valley County in Cascade, Idaho, United States

Job Description

Summary
Valley County is seeking a 4-H Youth Development Coordinator to develop, plan, and conduct programs that deliver youth and volunteer education in support of 4-H programs. This position provides high-quality, structured educational experiences that foster positive youth development, empowering youth to reach their full potential, and building strong community partnerships.

This is a full-time position with full employee benefits.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities
The 4-H Youth Development Coordinator position can follow one of two tracts: a Club Program Coordinator or a Community Program Coordinator. Although similar in many regards, there are distinctions between the two specialties.

As the Club Program Coordinator, you would serve as the primary contact for all 4-H Youth Development Club adults and youth, ensuring the successful operation and compliance of all club activities. This involves overseeing the design, teaching, delivery, and evaluation of all 4-H club programming while actively recruiting, training, and supporting certified 4-H volunteer club leaders. You would be responsible for monitoring club compliance with both UI Extension and national 4-H policies, and meticulously maintaining accurate member enrollment and project data using Z-Suites, Fair Entry, and related systems.

A significant part of the role includes organizing and managing all county-wide club events, such as record book judging, oral presentations, various livestock activities (weigh-ins, field days, shows), air project judging, and ribbon/award coordination. Furthermore, you would act as the lead liaison with the Fair Board and Buildings & Grounds for all club-related fair activities, support financial compliance by auditing club and Leaders Council accounts and assisting with nonprofit filings, and partner with the 4-H Community Program Coordinator on county-wide celebrations and youth recognition events.

As the Community Program Coordinator, you would be responsible for planning, teaching, delivering, and evaluating flexible youth programming across the county. This diverse programming includes in-school enrichment lessons, after-school programs, day camps, workshops, project-in-a-day events, and summer and winter programs. You would ensure program fidelity by maintaining group enrollment reporting requirements.

A key component of this role is establishing and maintaining strong partnerships with local organizations, libraries, schools, and civic groups to expand program reach. You would directly support programming by recruiting, training, and supporting certified 4-H non-club volunteer leaders. Furthermore, you would play a critical role in strategic initiatives, including developing a Workforce Development program in alignment with partners, specifically utilizing the 4-H Beyond Ready initiative, and collaborating with the Club Program Coordinator on county-wide celebrations and youth recognition events.
