Job Description
Dates of Need: 2/5/2026-11/30/2026. This application encompasses: agricultural equipment operation irrigation, general farm labor, and growing and harvesting row crops such as hay, corn and triticale.
This is job requires a minimum of three (3) months of general farm labor experience.
The lifting requirement for this position is 60 pounds.
General Farm Work will include the following duties
1.Maintain, drive, attach, and operate farm implements, tractors, equipment to till soil, plant, cultivate, fertilize, and harvest crops
2.Make mechanical adjustments and repairs on farm machinery
3.May mix and/or spray chemicals (according to appropriate restrictive use laws, when/if applicable)
4.Remove undesirable and excess growth from crops or farm grounds
5.Remove rocks from fields, edges fields, concrete ditches, etc.
6.Paint, maintain, repair farm structures
7.Maintain and repair fencing
8.Perform general clean-up of farm areas
9.Drive, unload/load non CDL, farm exempt heavy trucks to haul employer’s crops, fertilizer, compost and other crop inputs to and from employer worksites
10.Husk, shell, de-tassel corn
11.Operate motor bike, all-terrain vehicle (ATV’s), John Deere Gators, while performing job duties.

-Organize, maintain, stack, and move feedstock/compost when needed
-Clean and remove improper debris, weeds, foreign material from feedstock, compost, or equipment
-Pile and transport material
-Load and unload material at desired locations
-Add/remove moisture when needed. During rain site may be too saturates, during hot days feedstock may need water or wet manure/feedstock applied
-Maintain processing and storage sites
-Burn, spray, and pull weeds where needed at processing site.

3.Operate tractor and implement to mow weeds in fields and field edges
4.Pull and/or hoe weeds on all properties
5.Pick up rocks on properties
6.Operate equipment to pack silage, triticale, alfalfa (haylage)
7.Operate bale plastic wrapper
8.Cover mint, haylage, corn silage, triticale, high-moisture corn waste pits with plastic and tires
9.Add and/or remove tires and plastic from silage, triticale, and (alfalfa) haylage pits
10.Operate a farm exempt, non-CDL semi-truck to load and unload hop waste from picker facility to compost yard
11.Operate farm exempt, non-CDL semi-truck connected to flatbed trailers (hay trailers) to load/unload haybales
12.Operate bagger when loading and unloading haylage and/or triticale in bag machine then into large plastic storage bag
13.Cut Tires with tire cutting machine.
14.Manure/compost hauling to farm fields
Hand Lines
1.Connect pipes
2.Check the alignment of pipe and adjust for proper water distribution
3.Attach lines to water supply
4.Prime/Turn on pump
5.Turn valves to start flow of water
6.Disassemble lines and carry pipes across fields at specified intervals
7.Move pipes through freshly irrigated crop and/or plowed fields where mud may be deep at times
8.Lift and carry pipe sections weighing approximately 60 pounds on a sustained basis
9.To meet minimum acceptable performance standards when irrigating, the worker must, after a 10-day conditioning period, move an average of at least 48 40-foot sections of 3-inch
pipe per hour under normal working conditions.
Flood Irrigation
1.Lift gate inside of flooded irrigation ditch/pipe permitting water to flow into bordered section of field
2.Shovel and pack dirt in low spots of embankment of cut trenches in high areas to direct water flow
3.Close gates in ditch/pipe when bordered section is flooded
4.Open gate or connect pipe to underground pipe system that releases water flow into reservoir or ditch
5.Siphon water from flooded reservoir or ditch to channel water into designated areas
6.Shovel or hoe soil to clear ditches/furrows and build embankments to appropriately channel water
7.Mix and apply proper solutions to fill holes/cracks in pipes, ditches, and spillways, and make minor repairs to metal, concrete, and wooden frameworks in pipe and ditch valves and
gates
8.Gated pipe installation and removal. Prime gated pipe system. Open and close all gates on gated pipes as irrigation management requires.
9.Direct siphon tubes into specific corrugates to direct water from ditch to field to water crops
10.Lift and carry siphon tubes down ditch banks
11.Move and store siphon tubes
12.Keep siphon tubes in good repair and repair to allow optimum water flow pressure.
Wheel Lines
1.Start gasoline engines and operate controls to move lines across fields at specified intervals
2.Hook up wheel lines to water supply
3.Move wheel lines when needed
4.Fix and repair broken wheel lines so that they are in an operational manner
5.Fix and repair any water leaks on wheel lines so that they are in an operational manner
Pivot Irrigation
1.Push on switch that activates circle sprinkler system
2.Turn on/off pivots
3.Learn and master operating a pivot
4.If a pivot is stuck, get it unstuck and in operating condition
5.Roll up/unroll pivot hoses
6.Unplug plugged up nozzles
7.Unplug plugged up hoses
8.Replace broken nozzles and hoses
9.Maintain operation of a pivot at optimum level
Other Irrigation Duties
1.Remove pipes/wheel lines from storage and lay out/place in predetermined patterns in fields
2.Lubricate, adjust, repair, and replace parts such as sprinkler heads and drive chains using hand tools
3.Observe revolving sprinklers and adjust to ensure proper operation and uniform distribution of water
4.Disassemble, service, and store pipe/mainlines/wheel lines after irrigation season
5.Operation of center pivot irrigation system. Standard repair and maintenance duties as required such as replacing and maintaining nozzles, hoses, pipes
All other duties assigned.
The anticipated hours listed represent the normal work schedule. Due to the nature of these crops, weather, and the requirement to send crops to customers when needed, it is the prevailing practice to work more or different hours than those listed. A worker may be offered more than the specified hours of work; however, the worker will not be required to work for more than the number of hours specified in the job order, or on the worker’s Sabbath or Federal holidays. Saturday work may be required. Workday start times vary depending on the weather. depending on the time of year, hours of daylight, and production requirements. There may be periods when little or no work will be available due to weather, time of year, and the requirements of the cropping or growing season. Workers must be able to work varying shifts as required by the season and work performed. Workers are notified of any change in the start times. Work may be performed during rain, light snow, cold, freezing temperatures and/or in high humidity and in temperatures over a 100 degrees F. Worker may be required to work in fields when crops are wet with dew/rain and should have suitable clothing for variable weather conditions. Workers’ job duties may require split shifts (e.g. 5:00 am to 10:00am and 5:00pm to 8:00pm). Work hours may vary were there are periods when extra hours are offered and periods of reduced hours are available due to weather, crop conditions, and time of year.
Employees working in corn fields should wear long sleeve shirts, pants, gloves, hi-visible vest, eye protection and closed toe shoes/boots as corn can scratch and irritate skin.
*Most of the required positions are outdoors. It is imperative that the employees understand that job duties may be performed in rain, snow, wind, freezing temperatures and/or high
humidity, and hot temperatures of approximately higher than 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
*It is imperative that the employees understand that they may work in fields when crops are wet and have dew on them and should have proper clothing for all weather conditions.
*During hay and corn harvests the operation runs 24/7 and the employer runs at least two shifts. Employees may be asked to work day or evening shifts.
*These positions require strenuous and repeated bending, standing, walking, & being on your feet for hours at a time.
Full Growing Season Commitment: The job offered requires that the worker be available for work every day that work is available for the full period of employment. The worker agrees
to be available for work and perform the assigned work for the assigned employer whenever work is available through the full period of employment.
Training: There will be a demonstration period to familiarize workers with job specification and to demonstrate proper harvest methods and other crop specific issues such as particular
grading, sizing or equipment operation.
