Job Description
• Ensure personal safety, food safety, and quality protocols are followed.
• Keeps work area clean and orderly in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP, and SQF.
• Performs assigned tasks that do not endanger the environment and adhere to company and regulatory standards.
• Actively participates in the continuous improvement process.
• Builds production batches for your shift and the following shift.
• Uses a digital scale to weigh small amounts.
• Stacking 50 to 100-pound bags on pallets, and moving 200-pound barrels onto pallets.
• Watch for visual problems with ingredients.
• Dump-built batches into blenders according to manufacturing directions.
• Make sure all paperwork is accurate and completed.
• Use a forklift to take down empty barrels and pallets and set built batches up on blender and packet machine platforms.
• Sorts pallets.
• Blends batches according to manufacturer directions.
• Checks mill and screen condition for cleanliness and sanitize both before using.
• Pulls samples for lab approval, and runs line tests when needed.
• Makes sure products meet all specifications before packaging.
• Makes sure the blender is clean and has been swept thoroughly.
• When running vertical packet machines fill hoppers as needed and follow all sanitary practices. Record product numbers, lot, and batch numbers on the packet fill sheet.
• Keep work areas and utensils clean.
• Wash and sanitize blenders, sifters, mills, and floors when needed.
• Follow lockout procedures and safety practices, and use safety equipment.
• Follow the colored coding system.
• As needed, may be pulled to work in other areas of the plant.
Knowledge/Experience/Skills
- Must be able to work in hot and cold conditions and climb on and off lift truck throughout shift
- Need reading, writing, math, and computer skills - Complete knowledge of sifting, blending, and processing and dryer
- Ability to operate (or learn to operate) lift truck
- Be able to lift 50 pounds throughout shift
- Must be mechanically inclined
- Self-motivated and ability to work with little supervision - Must be able to move 200-pound barrels regularly
- Must be dependable and trustworthy
