Job Description
In-House, US Department of Labor and VA Apprenticeships Available
A general background in construction and/or electrical is a plus but not required.
Work safely while assisting in new construction and various tasks such as demolition, site preparation, excavating, backfilling and landscaping, trenching, pole setting, cable labeling, and other substation related tasks such as construction clean-up.
• Assist with installing transformer and transformer banks, bus structures and switchgear, lines (underground/overhead), ground grid, control buildings,, and other related substation material tasks
• Will work with man baskets, skid steers, shovels, compactors, back hoes and other industry equipment,
• Frequently work around energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care to protect the lives of themselves and others
• Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order
• Other duties as assigned
• Able to learn job specific procedures including: identifying and using different types of materials used in line work, safety procedures, and installation procedures
• Must be able to handle various tools as well as proper maintenance of tools
• Must be able to work outside frequently in inclement weather, to include heat, cold, rain and snow
• Able to lift in excess of 50 lbs, as well as working at slightly elevated heights (up to 24 ft, occasionally may go up to 80ft) and/or confined spaces
