Summary Statement

Work with Boise Arts & History’s Education and Public Programs Manager to guide City Steps public walking tours related to Boise City’s history and public art collection, encourage active participation and follow up, and support with tour logistics. Tours will take place twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10 a.m. The tour season includes two sessions: Session 1 runs from May through June, and Session 2 runs from August through September. Training begins in mid-April. No tours run during the month of July.

This position is designated At-Will.

Essential Functions

+ Learning the tour scripts and content.

+ Facilitate a 1.5-mile walking tour.

+ Cross-referencing tour schedules in accordance with weather forecasts and community events.

+ Greeting and welcoming tour participants.

+ Familiarizing tour participants with tour content through guided tour experience.

+ Following up with tour participants to answer questions or share additional resources or non-competing services that might interest them.

Requirements

Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training

+ Individuals must be able to commit to the entire tour season.

+ Individuals must be capable of operating vehicles safely and have an acceptable driving record.

Licensing And Other Requirements

+ State-issued driver’s license.

Special Requirements

Applicants must be able to pass:

+ City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation.

+ Driving Record Check.

Physical Efforts

While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds. Also, the employee is occasionally pushing/pulling up to 10 pounds. The noise level is occasionally moderate. Work includes sensory ability to talk and hear. Employees will reach and grasp. Position requires hand/finger dexterity.

Working Environment

The work environment will include inside conditions and outdoor weather conditions. Employees will also drive a vehicle as part of this position.

All temporary or part-time employees working 19-hours or less are not eligible for benefits.
