Shipping Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: Shipping

REPORTING TO: Customer Service Manager

SUMMARY: The Shipping Coordinator is a critical role in the manufacturing logistics team, responsible for managing the efficient and accurate movement of finished products from the manufacturing facility to customers. This position ensures timely delivery, maintains shipping documentation, and coordinates with multiple internal and external stakeholders to optimize the shipping process.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Shipping Operations Management

 

· Coordinate and schedule product shipments

· Prepare shipping documents, including bills of lading, packing lists, and commercial invoices

· Verify shipping accuracy and completeness of orders

· Manage shipping manifests and tracking documentation

· Ensure compliance with shipping regulations and company procedures

 

Logistics Coordination

 

· Work closely with production, warehouse, and sales teams to align shipping schedules

· Plan and optimize shipping routes and methods

· Coordinate with freight carriers and transportation providers

· Track shipments and resolve any transit-related issues

· Manage inbound and outbound shipping logistics

 

Documentation and Compliance

 

· Maintain accurate shipping records

· Prepare and process export/import documentation

· Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations

· Verify product packaging meets shipping and regulatory requirements

· Manage shipping-related paperwork and electronic records

 

 

 

Carrier Management

 

· Evaluate and select shipping carriers

· Negotiate shipping rates and service agreements

· Monitor carrier performance and reliability

· Develop and maintain relationships with transportation providers

· Resolve shipping-related disputes or claims

 

Cost Control

 

· Monitor and analyze shipping expenses

· Identify opportunities for cost reduction

· Compare shipping rates and services

· Develop strategies to optimize shipping efficiency

· Prepare shipping cost reports for management

 

Customer Service

 

· Provide shipping status updates to customers

· Address shipping-related customer inquiries

· Resolve shipping discrepancies or delivery issues

· Maintain professional communication with internal and external stakeholders

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field

· 2-3 years of shipping coordination experience in manufacturing

· Proficiency in shipping software and logistics management systems

· Strong organizational and multitasking skills

· Excellent communication abilities

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Able to work in a hot humid environment for extended periods of time as well as around loud noises are required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to remain stationary with intermediate walking through out shift. Frequently lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds alone and parts more than 50 pounds with assistance and must be able to transport these up to 20 feet. Frequently positions self to maneuver around the part when finishing. Must be able to operate the hand and air tools frequently. Must be able to work overhead using hand and air tools, lift and carry parts and dump powder boxes.
