Part Time Habitat for Humanity Idaho Falls Area ReStore Cashier and Warehouse Job Description

SUPERVISOR: ReStore Manager

GENERAL SUMMARY: ReStore Cashier and ReStore Warehouse employee is expected to complete transactions from seller to buyer and keep ReStore stocked and organized in an efficient and friendly manner.

Employee Status:  Non-exempt, Part time 16 to 24 hours per week

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Greet arriving customers
  • Operate sales counter
  • Operate cash register to document merchandise sales
  • Follow established procedures for customer sales
  • Respond to customer inquiries
  • Answer & process phone calls as needed
  • Direct customers to appropriate areas of the store
  • Assist other volunteers as needed
  • Clean and organize inventory as directed
  • Daily cleaning duties as directed
  • Load and unload donated materials
  • Screen for product usability.
  • Communicating with ReStore Manager regarding incoming donations.
  • Occasionally supervising volunteers, making their experience meaningful.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with ReStore staff, volunteers, Habitat homeowners and ReStore customers.
  • Daily cleaning and straightening of ReStore warehouse.
  • Screen for product usability when donors bring in donations.
  • Coordinate pricing and operations with ReStore Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned by ReStore Manager

 

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be comfortable handling money and operating cash
  • Must be people-oriented, flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to advocate the mission of Habitat for Humanity Idaho Falls Area
  • Must have a professional demeanor and remain friendly and polite when faced with difficult customer situations.
  • Must possess the ability to plan, organize and handle multiple functions simultaneously and communicate clearly and courteously, both verbally and in writing.
  •  

  Required Skills / Experience

  • Knowledge and experience in retail sales and price of construction materials.
  • Team building a real plus.

     Must have good anticipatory abilities and personally act on same as need arises.

  • Must be willing to understand the big picture of the HFHIFA ministry and know that ReStore is part of the larger goal.
  • Must pass Criminal Background Check and Drug Test.
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds.
  • Ability to spend majority of the day standing or moving about. Work may require climbing ladders, standing, bending, kneeling, and reaching in awkward and tiring positions.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of six months of work experience.

 

TRAINING PROVIDED

  • On-site training is provided and consists of an orientation with the ReStore Manager.
  • A follow-up buddy system can be provided upon request until no further assistance is
