Trailer Production & Assembly Team Member – Job Description
Position Summary
The Trailer Production & Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling, finishing, and preparing trailers for delivery. This position involves the use of hand and power tools, surface preparation, trailer flooring installation, electrical component installation, and general production support. The ideal candidate will be dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Remove weld slag using scrapers and sanders
- Prepare trailer surfaces for paint by removing contaminants and debris
- Apply caulking to trailer seams and joints
- Operate horizontal saws, vertical saws, and skill saws safely and efficiently
- Install trailer flooring materials
- Use electric drills, impact tools, and tape measures accurately
- Install breakaway kits, plugs, electrical connections, lights, mats, decals, and tires
- Mount tires and assist with final trailer assembly
- Perform general housekeeping and maintain a clean work area
- Assist with additional production and assembly tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools
- Ability to read and accurately use a tape measure
- Prior manufacturing, assembly, or trailer production experience preferred
- Operate a forklift safely is a plus
- Ability to follow safety procedures and work instructions
- Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
- Dependable attendance and teamwork skills
Physical Requirements
- Requires frequent use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulation
- Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly
- Ability to stand and work on concrete floors for extended periods
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and production environments
Work Environment
- Manufacturing and production shop environment
- Exposure to dust, noise, paints, adhesives, and moving equipment
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as assigned
