Job Description

Follow the Lesson Plans: Review and execute the detailed instructions, assignments, and lesson plans left behind by the permanent teacher.

Maintain Classroom Control: Ensure a safe, orderly, and productive learning environment by managing student behavior and addressing disruptions firmly but fairly.

Take Attendance: Accurately record student attendance at the start of the day or period and report it to the front office according to school protocol.

Enforce School Policies: Uphold the school's student code of conduct, dress code, safety rules, and digital device policies.

Supervise Students: Keep a watchful eye on students at all times, including during transitions, hall passes, and assigned duties (like recess, lunch, or bus duty).

Assist and Direct Students: Answer questions, explain assignment instructions, and guide students through their work to keep them on task.

Handle Emergencies: Familiarize yourself with emergency exit routes and protocols, and lead students safely during drills or actual emergencies (fire, lockdown, etc.).

Leave a Summary Report: Write a brief, professional note for the returning teacher detailing what work was completed, which students were exceptionally helpful, and any behavioral or technical issues that arose.
