ER Tech-Night Shift

Job Description

Job Summary
The CNA/Emergency Room Tech, under the direction of the Registered Nurse or appropriate designee, assists the medical and nursing staff of the Emergency department with providing direct and indirect patient care and performing related duties and procedures as assigned.  When the ER is not busy, the CNA/ER Tech will be required to work on the floor as a CNA. 

Perform phlebotomy, EKG, bladder scan, procedure tray set-up and cleaning, assistance in implementation of trauma and cardiovascular protocols. 

Responsible for transportation of patients, stocking of medical supplies in treatment rooms.

Assists the patient with ADL’s (activities of daily living) such as personal hygiene and grooming care, feeding, ambulation, turning, and lifting.

Performs other duties as needed

Position requires access to highly confidential information.

Responsible for miscellaneous duties and tasks as appropriate to training and skill assigned by RN including assisting with workload in other areas when directed. 

Minimum Requirements
•    Current CNA certification.
•    One year previous emergency medicine experience preferred.
•    Current BLS certification required.

Starting IV's and Discontinuing IV's

Priming manual IV lines with IV crysalloide fluids. 

Recording for Code Blue using the Code Blue Sheet.

Ability to demonstrate the ability to prioritize tasks, use good judgement in the delivery of patient care and communicate effectively with patients, family members, care team members and providers.

Physical Requirements
•    Prolonged periods of sitting and standing. Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position. 
•    Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching.
•    Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times, and move patients with assistance.   
•    Moderate physical activity, including lifting, bending, stooping, crouching, pulling, and pushing.
