Job Title: Shop Helper / Fabrication Assistant
Job Description
This role supports a busy fabrication shop by operating a band saw to cut metal, deburring and cleaning finished welds, packaging products, and performing a variety of general labor tasks. You will work with hand and power tools to grind and remove impurities from small knives used in vegetable and potato processing machinery, and you will use blueprints to ensure accurate, high-quality work.
Responsibilities
+ Operate a band saw to cut metals according to specifications and blueprints.
+ Deburr and clean up finished welds to ensure smooth, high-quality surfaces.
+ Use various hand tools and power tools to grind down impurities on knives and fabricated parts.
+ Perform general labor tasks in the shop, including material handling and basic fabrication support.
+ Package finished products carefully to prevent damage and prepare them for shipment.
+ Read and interpret blueprints to follow dimensions, tolerances, and fabrication requirements.
+ Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow shop safety procedures at all times.
+ Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and maintain consistent workflow.
Essential Skills
+ Experience operating a band saw in a fabrication or production environment.
+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints and follow detailed instructions.
+ Proficiency using hand tools for grinding, deburring, and general fabrication tasks.
+ Proficiency using power tools for grinding and finishing metal components.
+ Experience with deburring and cleaning up finished welds and fabricated parts.
+ Experience in general labor or production work in a shop or manufacturing setting.
+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
+ Ability to work safely around machinery and follow established safety guidelines.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Prior experience in a machine shop or fabrication environment.
+ Familiarity with packaging processes for metal components or industrial products.
+ Comfort working with older but well-maintained fabrication and machining equipment.
+ Reliability in maintaining consistent attendance and working set day-shift hours.

Work Environment
You will work in a medium-sized local machine and fabrication shop that produces machinery and small knives used to process vegetables and potatoes. The shop is clean, with older machines that are well spaced out, and each employee has their own workstation. The schedule is a consistent day shift, Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with overtime available. The dress code is casual and practical, typically work clothes such as jeans, t-shirt, and closed-toed shoes.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Boise, ID.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 – $21.00/hr.
