Job Title: Saw Operator / Material Handler

Job Description

This role involves operating metal cutting saws, performing precise measurements, and ensuring all parts meet customer specifications. You will set up and maintain saw equipment, verify material against work orders, and complete in-process and final inspections. The position also includes general labor, inventory support, and forklift operation in a clean, organized production facility that emphasizes safety, quality, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

+ Operate metal cutting saws to cut parts to customer specifications while maintaining required tolerances.

+ Set up saws according to job requirements and perform daily maintenance checks on metal saws.

+ Complete daily maintenance checklists and follow general housekeeping standards to keep the work area clean and organized.

+ Verify stock against work order requirements, including alloy, temper, gauge, size, producer, lot number, and grain direction.

+ Use tape measures, micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools to confirm parts meet required dimensions.

+ Mark each part with the required customer identification and stamp work orders to indicate inspection approval.

+ Perform in-process inspections throughout production to ensure consistent quality and accuracy.

+ Conduct final inspections of parts before shipment to verify they meet all specifications and quality standards.

+ Support general labor tasks such as packing, material handling, and inventory activities as needed.

+ Operate forklifts safely to move materials and products within the facility, when trained and authorized.

+ Read and interpret basic blueprints or work instructions related to saw operation and fabrication tasks.

+ Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, prioritizing safe work practices over speed.

+ Work cooperatively with team members, listen to instructions, and contribute to a respectful, supportive work environment.

+ Maintain punctuality, cleanliness, and a professional demeanor while treating others with dignity and respect.

Essential Skills

+ Ability to accurately use tape measures, micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools.

+ Strong basic math skills, including converting fractions to decimals and working with measurements (such as understanding quarter-inch values in decimal form).

+ Safety-oriented mindset with a focus on working accurately and carefully rather than rushing.

+ Demonstrated honesty, integrity, punctuality, and cleanliness in daily work habits.

+ Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed during material handling and production tasks.

+ Capacity to verify materials against detailed work order requirements, including alloy, temper, gauge, size, producer, lot number, and grain direction.

+ Willingness and ability to perform both in-process and final inspections of parts to ensure quality standards.

+ Team-oriented attitude with the ability to listen, follow instructions, and cooperate with others.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Spokane Valley, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 – $20.00/hr.
