Job Description
The Senior Director, PBM Strategic Relations plays a critical role in driving the success of RxBenefits’ relationships and strategic initiatives with PBMs and other vendor partners while ensuring alignment with the organization’s vision, values, strategic plan, and financial objectives. This leader is responsible for overseeing PBM relationships, serving as a primary escalation point, and evaluating and vetting PBM initiatives. The ideal candidate demonstrates deep expertise in operational and strategic pharmacy management, strong communication skills with internal and external executive stakeholders, and proven effectiveness in complex contract negotiation. The Senior Director collaborates closely with cross functional RxBenefits leaders to foster a client centric culture focused on collaboration, advocacy, and execution. This role reports directly to the Vice President, PBM Strategic Relations.
Essential Job Responsibilities Include:
+ Lead team of PBM Strategic Relations Managers who provided oversight of the day-to-day management of our PBM partnerships.
+ Oversee the decision-making process for PBM initiatives through collaboration with RxBenefits and PBM executive leadership.
+ Advise on PBM Request for Proposal (RFP) development, including review, assessment, and executive readouts.
+ Hold PBMs accountable for resolving escalated service and operational issues.
+ Ensure organizational readiness to support PBM programs and services by collaborating with PBM partners and cross functional teams to review, understand, and vet programs while developing and communicating RxBenefits’ internal position.
+ Serve as the central conduit of PBM initiatives, ensuring timely and accurate communication across cross functional teams.
+ Demonstrate transformational leadership, motivating and engaging teams while influencing behaviors toward a shared strategic vision.
+ Facilitate ongoing communication with PBM leadership to maintain strong, strategic, and collaborative relationships.
+ Track and report on PBM trends, successes and challenges.
+ Support additional projects and responsibilities as needed.
Required Skills / Experience:
+ 10+ years of professional experience in Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM).
+ 5+ years of progressive leadership experience.
+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
+ Demonstrated expertise and understanding of PBM contractual terms and conditions.
+ In depth understanding of PBM’s operational processes.
+ Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external executive leadership.
+ Strong organization skills with exceptional attention to detail and a sense of urgency.
+ Advanced interpersonal, communication, and collaborative leadership skills.
+ Strong independent critical thinking skills.
+ Proven team building, relationship management, and project management capabilities.
+ Ability to excel in a fast paced, rapidly growing organizational environment.
+ Ability to communicate with PBM vendors in a respectful and meaningful manner to maintain positive relationships.
+ Willingness to travel to internal and external conferences/meetings (approximately <20%).
+ Proven ability to lead and manage a high performing team.
