The Idaho Department of Insurance (DOI) (https://doi.idaho.gov/) is seeking a Financial Technician to join the Fiscal team. This position reports directly to the Financial Officer.

The purpose of this role is to analyze, research, forecast, and reconcile complex financial documents. The incumbent will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with laws, rules, and policies, and perform related work.

Example of Duties:

+ Process daily deposits and deliver deposits to Idaho State Treasurer’s Office

+ Analyze transactions and determine recording entries

+ Prepare and code appropriate documents and enter into accounting system

+ Review transaction information for compliance with Idaho Statutes, Rules, Policies, and procedures

+ Enter financial information using State accounting system (vendor payments, travel reimbursements, W9 updates, and filings)

+ Provide fiscal support and guidance to agency staff and managers

+ Review, process and monitor purchasing system

+ Assist Financial Specialist with maintaining, monitoring, and tagging fixed asset items

+ Assist Financial Officer with special projects

Minimum Qualifications (MQs):

Good Knowledge of:

+ Financial Record Keeping

Typically gained by at least three (3) years of work experience performing the duty listed above as a regular part of your job; OR successful completion of at least two (2) upper division college courses or trainings related to subject area AND at least two (2) years of work experience regularly performing the duty listed above; OR successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or another closely related field.

Experience:

+ Researching and compiling financial information and preparing summaries and reports

+ Using personal computers to enter, retrieve, and edit financial data

Typically gained by at least one (1) year of work experience regularly performing both duties listed above.

Desired Qualifications (not required):

Experience:

+ Using Microsoft Office suite applications including but not limited to Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.

Typically gained by at least one (1) year of experience using Microsoft Office suite applications.
