Job Description
ISU’s Facilities Services Department is now hiring a part-time, temporary Mechanical Systems Operator for our Pocatello campus. The successful applicant will work a maximum of 19.5 hours/week within the hours of 7am – 3:30pm, Monday through Friday. The approved wage is $15.00 /hour. Primary Purpose:
The successful applicant will assist with the operation and maintenance of high-pressure boilers, chillers, and related equipment on the Pocatello campus of Idaho State University.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspects heating equipment: checks fans, valving and piping, gauges, sight glasses and indication lights.
- Ensures proper operation of feed and return water pumps, sump and chemical pumps, water softeners, internal and external boiler components, electrical systems, and burners.
- Performs preventive maintenance on heat plant system.
- Inspects pump controls and fans.
- Checks for leaks in steam and condensate lines.
- Assists other Heat Plant staff performing their duties.
Supplemental Information:
This work involves lifting and carrying items weighing approximately 90 pounds, working in a noisy environment, bending, stooping, and crawling in and around confined spaces.
