Idaho Power, located in the vibrant community of Boise, Idaho, is seeking a motivated Contracting Agent to join our Supply Chain Procurement team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. What does a Contracting Agent do for us?

The Contracting Agent works independently and with minimal guidance to lead stakeholders in the development of internal customer materials and service contracts of significant risk and/or complexity. They lead the competitive bidding process, negotiations, and prepare comprehensive contract documents. The Contracting Agent will meet business unit cost objectives with a focus on delivering the best value to Idaho Power.

A COMPETETIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

Knowledge of:

+ Contracting practices, terms, and conditions

+ Developing and writing a statement of work

+ Negotiation techniques and supplier management practices

+ Competitive bidding processes

+ Contracting strategies and principles for a wide range of service/goods industries

+ ERP and EAM systems

+ Business Acumen

Skills in:

+ Excellent time management, decision making, and analytical skills

+ Effective problem solving, critical thinking, and negotiation skills

+ Verbal, written, and professional communication, including effective listening

+ Highly organized, able to manage and coordinate multiple projects, including competing priorities with frequent interruptions

+ Focusing on quality with strong attention to detail

+ Building and establishing effective working relationships to build trust and foster collaboration

+ Microsoft 365, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and OneNote

Ability to:

+ Be results-oriented

+ Lead and/or collaborate on project teams with diverse stakeholders

+ Initiate action independently to manage work and customer relationships, as needed with planning & organizing abilities leading to effective recommendations and decision making

+ Communicate and interact effectively, both verbally and written, with a variety of audiences (including highly technical personnel and senior business leaders)

+ Work collaboratively in a team environment

+ Maintain customer focus and deliver a high degree of customer service

+ Leverage procurement strengths to mentor peers and junior Contracting Agents

+ Work well with others, maintains focus on achieving a common goal

+ Prioritize and effectively apply time management techniques to perform multiple tasks

+ Be flexible to changing priorities to ensure proper completion of tasks associated with work portfolio

+ Gather information, identify linkage and trends, apply findings to assignments, and develop alternatives

+ Work in a fast paced, dynamic environment and maintain composure while dealing effectively with a diverse customer base and constructively work under stress and pressure when faced with demanding work and aggressive deadlines

+ May be required to work extended hours in the event of large emergencies, i.e. fires, outages, etc.

+ Embrace change and accept complex challenges with initiative

+ Ask difficult questions and solve difficult problems

+ Be accessible after normal business hours for responding to leadership and customer requests

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

+ Bachelor’s degree

OR

+ An equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred:

+ Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain or related field

Experience:

+ 4 or more years related work experience

Licenses & Certifications:

+ Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position

Preferred:

+ Industry recognized certifications

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 10 lbs. The above is a summary of the primary essential functions of the position.
