Job Title: Welder and Fabricator Job Description

This role offers an opportunity to work in a family-owned fabrication shop that produces a wide range of custom products, including event and retail displays, handrails, small precision parts, stock trailers, and rotational molds. You will focus on day-shift fabrication work, building products for a specific customer while performing welding, fitting, and general metal fabrication tasks. The position is ideal for someone with custom shop experience who enjoys working on diverse projects in a dynamic, hands-on environment.

Responsibilities

+ Perform welding and fitting tasks in accordance with project specifications and quality standards.

+ Fabricate metal components and assemblies using appropriate tools, equipment, and techniques.

+ Operate cranes and rigging equipment safely for material handling and positioning of workpieces.

+ Run a press brake as needed to form and shape metal parts according to drawings and requirements.

+ Interpret and work from blueprints and fabrication drawings to complete projects accurately.

+ Inspect welds and fabricated components to ensure they meet project specifications and shop standards.

+ Work with various metals and materials commonly used in custom fabrication projects.

+ Follow and adhere to all safety protocols, regulations, and applicable codes and standards.

+ Collaborate with a small team to complete jobs efficiently while maintaining high quality.

+ Maintain a clean, organized work area and care for tools, equipment, and machinery.

Essential Skills

+ Experience working in a custom fabrication shop or similar environment.

+ Proficiency in MIG welding methods.

+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.

+ Hands-on experience with metal fabrication processes, including fitting and assembly.

+ Understanding of safety regulations, shop safety practices, and applicable codes and standards.

+ Ability to perform basic inspection of welds and fabricated parts.

+ Comfort working with various metals and materials used in fabrication.

+ Ability to operate or learn to operate cranes and rigging equipment for material handling.

+ Capability to run a press brake or willingness to learn press brake operations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Ideally, proficiency in both MIG and TIG welding methods.

+ Ideally, familiarity with crane operation for material handling.

+ Interest in learning and cross-training on a variety of equipment and machines.

+ Flexibility to handle different types of jobs and projects in a job-shop environment.

+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Work Environment

This role is based in a smaller shop environment with fewer than ten people, fostering close teamwork and a supportive atmosphere. The schedule is a day shift from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. The dress code is casual, with work boots required due to the hands-on nature of the work. As a job shop, the workload and types of projects vary, so you will need to be flexible and comfortable switching between different tasks and products. You will work with welding equipment, fabrication tools, cranes, rigging equipment, and a press brake, gaining experience across a range of machines and processes.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Harper, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 – $30.00/hr.
