Position Description & Qualifications
Serco is looking for Engineering Technician to support a team performing worldwide Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) systems installation, integration, and configuration of CCTV hardware and software infrastructure within the server rack supporting U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Army facilities.
Serco supports the US IMCOM Army Child & Youth Services (CYS) Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) to include the equipment within the server rack. Our team installs, upgrades, maintains and provides customer support to the Functional Technology Specialists (FTS), building directors, and staff on site to allow them to perform their mission successfully.
The Engineering Technician will provide hands-on technical support for mission-critical technology at U.S. Army installations worldwide. The role requires expertise in running, routing, terminating, and testing low-voltage cables; installing cable pathways; connecting cameras and recording equipment; and ensuring all wiring, cable management, and equipment installations meet established quality, safety, and performance standards.
This position requires is primarily field-based technical work with extensive worldwide travel . Technicians are expected to be on the road four or more consecutive months at a time, before taking a break . Employees may establish a home base anywhere within the United States and will travel to support U.S. Army installations worldwide.
In this role, you will:
+ Install, connect and configure CCTV equipment in server racks to include cameras, switches, servers, power supplies and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
+ Mount cameras in suitable locations and adjust angles for proper coverage.
+ Configure camera systems and recording devices.
+ Test installed equipment to ensure proper operation.
+ Run and route low-voltage cables such as Cat5e/Cat6 Ethernet, coaxial, and power cables.
+ Pull cables through walls, ceilings, conduits, cable trays, and underground pathways.
+ Drill holes, mount brackets, and install cable supports as required.
+ Measure, cut, label, and organize cables for clean installations.
+ Terminate network cables using RJ45 connectors and patch panels.
+ Install cable conduits, raceways, and protective tubing.
+ Test cables using cable testers to verify proper connections.
+ Diagnose faults in cameras, wiring, power supplies, and recording systems.
+ Follow safety procedures when working with ladders, tools, and electrical equipment.
+ Troubleshoot cable faults, signal issues, and connectivity problems.
+ Maintain neat cable management and follow installation standards.
+ Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and site layouts.
+ Complete required installation reports and maintain accurate documentation.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
+ High School Diploma/GED
+ US Citizenship
+ The ability to travel up to 90% of the time, up to four months at a time.
+ 2 years of experience in VMS and/or working with server equipment
+ At least 1 year of experience installing rack equipment, cable conveyance, and all peripheral equipment.
+ Knowledge of CCTV, networking, and security system wiring.
+ Ability to use hand tools, power tools, cable testers, and ladders.
+ Ability to identify and troubleshoot wiring issues.
+ Understanding of cable pathways and installation best practices.
+ Good attention to detail and ability to keep installations organized.
+ Ability to work independently and complete projects on schedule.
+ Verbal and written communications skills are essential for interacting with on-site lead, team members, on-site customer, project lead, project engineer and leadership.
+ Valid passport or ability to obtain a passport within 1 month of being hired.
+ Be able to receive a favorable determination from the National Agency Check with Inquiries background investigation National Security Check including finger-prints checks; NACI.
+ Must be able to obtain access to all military installations and obtain a CAC (Common Access Card)
+ Be able to successfully undergo a pre-employment background check investigation and a drug screening.
+ Ability to work unique schedules based on assigned projects including some work outside core hours and being willing to work more than 40 hours/week.
+ Ability to lift objects (servers, cable reels, etc.) up to 75-100 pounds without assistance.
+ Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
+ Ability to work in ceilings, crawl spaces, and outdoor environments.
+ Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and perform cable installation tasks for extended periods.
+ Ability to work in areas with drafts, noise, temperature variation and inclement weather or other adverse conditions

+ Experience with Pelco or Genetec or similar Video Management Systems
+ Familiar overseas travel requirements
+ Military background
+ A current OSHA certification
+ A current BISCI certification
+ A current US passport
