Summary The incumbent is responsible for the operation and maintenance of 250+miles of collection and distribution lines and 3,400 water meters serving nearly 5 million visitors per year across 14 geographically dispersed communities. Responsibilities The incumbent is responsible for the operation and maintenance of 250+miles of collection and distribution lines. In collaboration with the Chief-Utilities Branch, ensures compliance with the State of Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality as well the Federal EPA rules, regulations, and laws pertaining to water and wastewater to ensure public health and safety. Accomplish employee performance appraisals, provide counseling, recommend disciplinary action or award when necessary. Installs, modifies, and repairs new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment such as wastewater treatment and collections systems, water treatment and distribution systems. Installs, modifies, repairs, tests, and disinfects new and existing water supply mains and laterals up to 30" inside diameter using M.J. cast iron, bell and spigot cast iron, ductile iron, plastic, reinforced concrete, galvanized steel, and copper materials. Selects the proper size and arrangement of repair parts. Duties include the repair, replacement, and/or installation of pumps, flocculators, water treatment process components, chemical feed systems, valves, water meters, and fire hydrants. Operate, repair and maintain small water systems including well pumps, spring boxes and cartridge filtration systems. Supervises the operation of a state certified laboratory for water testing. In support of the COR, may perform role of Project Inspector on contracted work. Prepares observation reports as necessary. Incumbent may serve as a COR on select water and wastewater projects requiring the ability to obtain a COR level 1 within 6 months and maintain certification. Responsible for the efficient repair, maintenance and operation of water and wastewater treatment plants, collections systems including lift stations, distribution systems, reservoirs, and ancillary equipment. Documentation for the Land Management Workforce Flexibility Act (LMWFA) eligibility, submission of ALL SF-50s and performance information for each period of temporary/term employment that qualifies for LMWFA. Performance documentation can be obtained by contacting the supervisors for the positions you served in during your 24 months. If they did not complete performance appraisals ask them to provide a statement of performance for each period of service. The statement must specify the dates for each employment period and your level of performance (dates should match the dates on the SF-50s). Vehicle Operation: You may be required to complete training and operate a four-wheel drive vehicle. Uniform: You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided. Water Certification: Must have WY Water Certification 1 and Wy Wastewater Certification 1 at time of application or equivalent from another state. Minimum Age Requirement: Applicants must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or © Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program.
