Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Cleans the facilities according to routine directions, including floors, walls, bathrooms, kitchens and all surfaces and areas to the high cleaning standards of the YMCA. Mop, sweep, vacuum and scrub floors, walls and counter surfaces as required. Wash and clean window sills, mirrors, door panels, and occasionally windows, as needed. Empties wastebaskets, and picks up trash. Transports trash and waste to disposal area. Cleans bathroom sinks, toilets and floors and replenishes bathroom supplies. Deep-cleans areas as directed. Knows and implements all rules of sanitation of the facility. Identifies potential hazards around the facility that may be dangerous and reports to the Supervisor or Facilities Director. Responds cheerfully to requests for service and adequately responds to the custodial needs of the Supervisor or Facilities Director. Communicates with the Supervisor or Facilities Director on any potential concerns related to the operation of the building. Has working knowledge of hazardous chemicals and other materials used in the facilities Completes required child abuse training, comples with legal and ethical obligation as a mandatory reporter of suspected child abuse and cooperates fully with any investigation of such abuse Adheres to the Mission of the YMCA at all times and implements the Character Development traits of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility into the work performed at this facility. Performs other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS: Prior experience cleaning a commercial facility and familiarity with cleaning and sanitation needed for adults, children and virus prevention protocols preferred.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to meet minimum requirements and perform functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation Must be able to communicate clearly to all children, parents, members and company personnel Ability to attend trainings and meetings as required even if scheduled outside normal working or regularly scheduled hours. Present a clean, well-groomed appearanceVisual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergencyAbility to walk and stand for periods of timeFrequently must be able to lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, or up to 75 pounds with assistanceFrequently requires bending, leaning, kneeling and walking
