Job Description
Our client, the Idaho Commission on Hispanic Affairs, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented undergraduate or graduate student, or recent graduate, to support its policy team during the legislative session. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Idaho state government, legislative research, public policy, and community engagement while working alongside Commission staff.
Pay and schedule: $13.00 p/h. This is a 3-month temporary internship, starting ASAP, with approximately 12–15 hours per week.
What you’ll do:
Work alongside the Commission’s policy team to support research, legislative tracking, and community engagement related to statewide policy issues
Conduct legislative and policy research on bills, resolutions, and agency initiatives
Track state legislation related to education, workforce, health, and community affairs
Draft policy briefs, bill summaries, fact sheets, and talking points for staff
Attend legislative hearings, committee meetings, and stakeholder briefings
Assist in preparing reports and updates for Commission leadership and community partners
Support communications related to office, legislative, and policy matters
Perform administrative and other related duties as assigned
What you’ll need:
Current undergraduate or graduate student, or recent graduate, in political science, public policy, public administration, law, or a related field
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong research and analytical abilities with excellent attention to detail
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and online research tools
Professional demeanor and commitment to confidentiality
Knowledge of Idaho’s legislative process or an interest in state government preferred
Experience with policy writing, government relations, or communications preferred
