Instructional Program (CIP)
Description
Online Theory Instruction is combined with our Behind the Wheel Training and provides the student with BTW Range/Public Road Training with further lab instruction as needed.
Range Training:
Students will learn hands-on shifting, backing (L-back, straight back, off-set back and dock a tractor-trailer combination vehicle), parallel parking, vehicle awareness, turning radius, etc.
Public Road Training:
Driving instruction is hands-on driving in various road conditions and situations. This includes driving on the interstate, city and country roads and grades. We have the rare opportunity to give our students real-world experience working with dispatchers, customers and delivering loads in various locations with different challenges to practice the techniques they learned in the classroom and on the range. Students will also learn the entering and exiting procedures of DOT scales. In addition, they will visit and observe DOT scale personnel and their role in the transportation industry.
