Description

The Heavy Equipment Operator Training Program is a 120-hour workforce training program designed to prepare students for entry-level employment in the construction, excavation, mining, utility, road-building, and site development industries. The program provides comprehensive instruction in heavy equipment operation, workplace safety, equipment maintenance, and operational best practices.

Students receive classroom instruction and hands-on equipment training on industry-standard machines commonly used in construction and earthmoving operations. Training emphasizes equipment inspection, site safety, hazard recognition, machine controls, grading fundamentals, trenching and excavation techniques, material handling, equipment positioning, and preventive maintenance procedures.

The curriculum incorporates OSHA-based safety practices and safe equipment operating procedures to ensure graduates understand applicable workplace safety requirements. Students are trained to perform pre-operation inspections, identify equipment defects, communicate effectively in construction environments, and operate equipment safely and efficiently under various job-site conditions.

Hands-on training allows participants to develop practical skills through supervised operation of heavy equipment while completing performance-based exercises and competency evaluations. Student progress is assessed through written examinations, practical skills demonstrations, equipment operation evaluations, and instructor observations.

Upon successful completion, graduates receive a Certificate of Completion issued by Good Help Operator School documenting successful completion of the 120-hour Heavy Equipment Operator Training Program and demonstrated competencies in heavy equipment operation, workplace safety, and construction site practices. The Certificate of Completion is a school-issued training credential only and is not an industry-recognized certification, professional license, or operator certification. In addition to the Certificate of Completion, students who successfully satisfy all applicable requirements receive an OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety and Health card and First Aid/CPR certification through authorized training providers. These credentials are separate from the Certificate of Completion and are recognized within industry as evidence of safety training.
