Description
This program is a U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Registered Apprenticeship Program designed to prepare participants for careers as Medical Coders. The program provides hands-on coding experience, allowing participants to apply real-world coding skills in healthcare settings. It integrates related technical instruction with practical experience to ensure job readiness.
Admission into the apprenticeship program requires candidates to hold a full industry certification, such as the Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS). Candidates with the CPC-A (apprentice designation) are not eligible for entry into the program.
Most employers participating in the apprenticeship program require candidates to hold a full CPC or CCS credential. Upon meeting these requirements, participants are eligible to advance into employer placement opportunities within the apprenticeship program.
The program is delivered 100% online, offering flexible, self-paced learning with instructor support. Graduates are prepared for employment as Medical Records Specialists (SOC Code 29-2072) in a variety of healthcare settings.
